Emerald Coast Fishing Update – This Week
Some of the best catches aren’t measured in size—just in smiles and memories made on the water.
Strong Summer Bite Continues Along the Emerald Coast
Fishing across the Emerald Coast continues producing solid action this week, with good opportunities both inshore and offshore from Santa Rosa Beach through Destin and over toward Panama City Beach. Gulf conditions have been a little more variable on some days, making trip timing more important than usual, but when the right weather windows open up, the fishing has continued to deliver.
Inshore
Inshore trips continue to be a reliable and comfortable option, especially for families and anglers looking to stay closer to shore. Warmer summer water has kept steady action going around the flats, grass lines, and nearshore structure.
Offshore
Offshore fishing continues producing quality action whenever the Gulf settles down. Red snapper season remains open through July 31 under current FWC Gulf regulations, and anglers getting offshore are still finding plenty to be excited about. Red snapper, triggerfish, vermilion snapper, red grouper, and mahi continue showing up on recent trips, with the bite remaining strong when conditions cooperate.
Fresh Catch Recipe Idea
With triggerfish continuing to be one of the most reliable offshore catches, this is a great week to try one of our favorite Gulf triggerfish recipes. Triggerfish is known for its mild, clean flavor and firm texture, making it excellent grilled, fried, or lightly blackened—and one of the best-eating fish many first-time guests are surprised to discover.
Captain’s Tip
“This time of year, flexibility can really pay off. Summer patterns are settling in, and when the Gulf gives you a good window, it can make for a fantastic day on the water. With a little extra chop on some days, it’s also a great reminder for families with younger kids to ask about properly fitted child safety vests before heading out—we’re always happy to help make sure everyone is comfortable and ready for the trip.”
If you’re checking in on what’s biting now or deciding between inshore trips, offshore trips, or a relaxed family fishing trip, summer fishing continues shaping up nicely across the Gulf Coast of Florida with plenty of opportunities ahead.
