July 2026 Emerald Coast Fishing Report

Another quality triggerfish landed aboard Bluewater Charter as summer fishing stays strong along the Emerald Coast.

Better windows, same strong summer bite

Emerald Coast Conditions Overview

July is bringing a more favorable setup across the Emerald Coast after a rough late-June stretch of wind and offshore chop. From 30A to Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, and Panama City Beach, calmer morning conditions are creating better opportunities to reach productive offshore waters before the typical summer afternoon breeze builds.

The biggest shift this month isn’t necessarily what’s biting—it’s access. The fish have been there. Now the Gulf is offering more windows to get after them.

Inshore Fishing Report

Inshore fishing remains a dependable option, especially on days when offshore conditions get less cooperative later in the afternoon. Spotted trout continue to provide consistent action during early morning hours, while redfish remain active around docks, grass flats, and shoreline structure. Mangrove snapper are holding near bridges and nearshore structure, and Spanish mackerel are adding fun, fast-paced action for families and newer anglers.

Inshore Species Active Now:

Spotted Trout

Redfish

Mangrove Snapper

Spanish Mackerel

Flounder

Offshore Fishing Report

Offshore fishing remains in prime summer form when weather allows. Red snapper continue to be a major draw during peak season, while vermilion snapper, red grouper, and triggerfish are producing reliable bottom fishing. and mahi mahi continue to show up offshore, giving anglers exciting opportunities beyond bottom species.

The biggest advantage in July often comes from early departures, allowing boats to take advantage of calmer morning conditions before wind and storms build later in the day.

Offshore Species Active Now:

Red Snapper

Vermilion Snapper

Red Grouper

Triggerfish

Mahi Mahi

Why July Is a Great Time to Catch

July offers some of the most exciting fishing of the summer because the variety is hard to beat. Offshore trips can target multiple quality species in a single outing, while inshore and nearshore waters remain productive for families and anglers looking for a more relaxed trip. With reliable morning windows and strong seasonal fish activity, July creates excellent opportunities across the board.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea

With red grouper continuing to produce offshore, July is a great month to try our Grilled Grouper with Herb Sauce recipe. Grouper’s mild, flaky texture makes it one of the most popular fish on the Emerald Coast, and the fresh herb sauce adds a bright, coastal flavor that’s perfect after a successful summer day on the water.

Captain Steve’s Tip

“Summer fishing often rewards the early risers. The calmest Gulf conditions are usually in the morning, so early departures can make a big difference in both comfort and fishing opportunity—especially during July.”

Planning Your Trip

We’re seeing the same productive summer species, but with improving weather windows making trips easier to plan. Inshore waters continue to provide reliable action with trout, redfish, and mangrove snapper, while offshore trips are producing red snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and some mahi as calmer mornings return.

If you’re keeping an eye on what’s biting now, July is a great time to consider inshore trips, offshore trips, or a relaxed family trip along the Emerald Coast.

As we head deeper into summer, we also want to thank the military members, veterans, and first responders who serve our communities. Be sure to ask about our military and first responder discount when planning your trip.
