Summer Fishing Settles into a Reliable Pattern
Consistent Offshore Action Continues Along the Emerald Coast.
I've been fortunate to get out on the water a majority of days over the past two weeks, and one thing has remained consistent—the same quality summer species continue showing up trip after trip. That's exactly what I like to see this time of year. Fishing has settled into a dependable summer pattern from Santa Rosa Beach through Destin and over toward Panama City Beach, giving anglers plenty of opportunities to enjoy a great day on the Gulf.
Inshore Fishing
Inshore trips continue providing a comfortable and productive option for families and anglers looking to stay closer to shore. Redfish and spotted trout remain active around the flats and grass lines, while flounder and sheepshead continue adding variety for anglers enjoying a day on the water.

Offshore Fishing
Offshore fishing has settled into a dependable summer rhythm. Red snapper season remains open through July 31 under current FWC Gulf regulations, and recent trips continue producing quality catches. Triggerfish, vermilion snapper, red grouper, and red snapper have remained the core of the offshore bite, giving anglers plenty of opportunities every time we head offshore.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea
Triggerfish continues to be one of the most dependable offshore catches this summer, making it the perfect choice for this week's featured recipe. With its mild, clean flavor and firm texture, triggerfish is excellent grilled, lightly blackened, or pan-seared, and it's one of those Gulf fish that first-time guests quickly become fans of.
Captain's Tip
“One of my favorite signs of summer is seeing the same quality fish showing up day after day. When those patterns settle in, it usually means enjoyable trips for everyone, whether you're introducing the kids to offshore fishing or chasing another memorable day on the Gulf. If you're bringing younger anglers along, don't hesitate to ask about properly fitted child safety vests before we leave the dock. I always want everyone to be comfortable, safe, and ready to enjoy the day.”
Whether you're checking what's biting now, planning an inshore trip, offshore fishing charter, or looking for a fun family fishing trip, summer continues to be a great time to get out on the Emerald Coast.
