Emerald Coast Fishing Update - This Week

Offshore Action Picking Up

Conditions across the Emerald Coast have continued settling into a nice early-summer pattern, with calmer mornings and warm Gulf water creating good fishing windows from Santa Rosa Beach through Destin and over toward Panama City Beach.

Inshore

Inshore fishing has remained steady along the flats and grass lines, especially during the calmer morning hours. Families and anglers looking for a more relaxed trip continue finding consistent action close to shore.

Offshore

Offshore fishing has started showing a few more signs of summer, with mahi beginning to appear alongside steady triggerfish, vermilion snapper, and red grouper action across the Gulf. We also came across a few red snapper this week, though those remain catch-and-release only until the season officially opens May 22.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea

With triggerfish and vermilion snapper staying active offshore, this is a great time to keep things simple with one of our Gulf fish recipes. Both species work especially well for easy grilled, blackened, or pan-seared meals after a day on the water.

Captain’s Tip

“The early part of the day has been especially comfortable lately before the afternoon breeze starts building, especially for families and younger anglers.”

If you’re checking in on what’s been biting lately or thinking through whether inshore trips, offshore trips, or a laid-back family trip fits best, this continues to be a great stretch to enjoy time on the water across the Gulf Coast of Florida. And with Memorial Day approaching, we always like to extend a military and first responder discount as a small thank you to those who serve and have served.
