Emerald Coast Fishing Update – This Week
Red Snapper season is officially here
Summer Species Starting to Show Up
Conditions across the Emerald Coast have been a little rougher this week, but the calmer windows have still created good opportunities to get on the water from Santa Rosa Beach through Destin and over toward Panama City Beach. As we move deeper into late spring, warmer Gulf water continues bringing more summer species into the mix whenever conditions settle down.
Inshore
Inshore fishing has remained the more dependable option during the rougher stretches, especially for families and anglers looking for a comfortable day on the water closer to shore.
Offshore
Offshore opportunities have been a little more timing-dependent this week because of the weather, but boats getting out are still finding mahi, triggerfish, vermilion snapper, and red grouper across the Gulf. Red snapper season is now officially open as well, though the rougher conditions have limited how much time anglers have really been able to get offshore and settle into a consistent snapper bite just yet.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea
With red snapper season now officially open, this is a great time to try one of our favorite Gulf snapper recipes after a day offshore. Fresh red snapper works especially well grilled, blackened, or lightly pan-seared when you want to keep things simple and let the fish speak for itself.
Captain’s Tip
This time of year, being flexible with weather windows can make a big difference, especially when the Gulf starts shifting between calmer mornings and rougher afternoons."
If you’re checking in on what’s been biting lately or thinking through whether inshore trips, offshore trips, or a laid-back family trip fits best, there are still plenty of good opportunities lining up across the Gulf Coast of Florida whenever conditions cooperate.
