Emerald Coast Fishing Update – This Week
Red grouper continue to be steady this week
Steady Offshore Action
Conditions across the Emerald Coast have stayed pretty consistent this week, with calm mornings and warm Gulf water creating solid fishing windows from Santa Rosa Beach through Destin and over toward Panama City Beach.
Inshore
Inshore fishing has remained steady, especially for redfish and speckled trout along the flats and grass lines. Flounder are continuing to show up more regularly, and the calmer mornings have made for a relaxed setup for families and anglers looking to stay closer to shore.
Offshore
Offshore trips continue producing reliable action with red grouper, vermilion snapper, triggerfish, and bonita staying active across the Gulf. We’re also seeing more red snapper showing up offshore, though the season does not open until May 24, so those remain catch-and-release for now. King mackerel and mahi are still the species everyone is waiting on as summer patterns continue developing.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea
With vermilion snapper staying active offshore, this is a great week to keep things simple with one of our favorite Gulf snapper recipes. Light, flaky snapper works especially well for easy grilled or pan-seared meals after a day on the water.
Captain’s Tip
“The early part of the day has been especially nice lately if you’re looking for a more relaxed trip before the afternoon breeze starts building.”
If you’re checking in on what’s been biting lately or thinking through whether inshore trips, offshore trips, or a laid-back family trip fits best, this continues to be a great stretch to enjoy time on the water across the Gulf Coast Florida. And with Memorial Day approaching, we always like to extend a military and first responder discount as a small thank you to those who serve and have served.
