June 2026 Emerald Coast Fishing Report
A wide variety of species are showing up in the Gulf
The Gulf has opened up, the bite is on
June is off to a strong start along the Emerald Coast, with calmer seas, warmer water temperatures, and improving fishing conditions from 30A to Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, and Panama City Beach. After a stretch of rough weather, the Gulf has finally settled down and fishing activity has picked up across the board. Whether you're staying close to shore or heading offshore, this is the time of year when summer fishing really starts to take shape.
Inshore Fishing Report
Inshore fishing remains steady and dependable, with redfish continuing to hold along grass flats, docks, and shoreline structure. Speckled trout are providing consistent action during the cooler parts of the day, while mangrove snapper are becoming more active around bridges, docks, and nearshore structure. Flounder are also showing up more regularly, giving anglers plenty of variety on inshore trips.
Inshore Species Active Now:
Offshore Fishing Report
Offshore fishing has shifted into summer mode as Gulf conditions improve and more species become available. Red snapper season is now open, while king mackerel have returned and are providing exciting opportunities throughout the area. Vermilion snapper, triggerfish, and grouper continue to offer dependable bottom fishing, and mahi mahi are showing up offshore alongside the kings, adding even more variety for anglers heading into deeper water. Cobia opportunities are still around when conditions line up, making June one of the most diverse months of the year along the Emerald Coast.
Offshore Species Active Now:
Why June Is a Great Time to Catch
June is when the Emerald Coast starts delivering on the fishing most people picture when they plan a Gulf vacation. Inshore waters remain productive, offshore opportunities expand, and red snapper season adds even more excitement to an already strong mix of species. With calmer weather and fish active throughout the water column, there are quality opportunities for anglers of all experience levels.

Captain Steve's Tip
“When the Gulf settles down after a stretch of rough weather, don't assume it takes long for the fishing to recover. Some of the best opportunities can show up right after conditions improve, especially when bait and game fish start moving again.”
Planning Your Trip
This month is shaping up to offer something for just about everyone. Inshore waters continue to provide reliable action with redfish, trout, and mangrove snapper, while offshore trips are producing red snapper, king mackerel, mahi mahi, grouper, triggerfish, and more as Gulf conditions improve.
If you're wondering what's biting now, June is a great time to explore both inshore trips and offshore trips, or enjoy a relaxed family trip while fishing along the Emerald Coast.
