Emerald Coast Fishing Update - This Week

A great red grouper catch and another successful day offshore.

September Offshore Fishing Is Off to a Strong Start

Whether you're visiting Panama City Beach, 30A, or Destin, September is one of my favorite times to fish the Emerald Coast. I've stayed steadily busy on the water this past week, and it's been great to see the return of red snapper season. The weather has continued to cooperate, early mornings remain comfortable, and the fishing opportunities only continue to improve as we move deeper into fall.

Inshore Fishing Update

Early morning remains the best time to target inshore species before the afternoon heat builds. Redfish continue providing dependable action around the bays and grass flats, while mangrove snapper, speckled trout, and black drum continue giving anglers plenty of opportunities for a successful trip.

Offshore Fishing Update

September offshore fishing is off to an excellent start. Red snapper season has reopened, and we've been putting plenty of quality snapper in the cooler. Greater amberjack season is also underway, although many of the larger keeper fish are still holding farther offshore in cooler water while Gulf temperatures remain around 88 degrees. Gag grouper season has also reopened, giving anglers even more opportunities offshore. As the Gulf begins cooling over the coming weeks, I expect the fall bite to continue getting even better.

Fresh Catch Recipe Idea

With red snapper season back open, there's no better time to enjoy one of my favorite Gulf recipes. Try my Grilled Red Snapper with Lemon Garlic Butter for a simple meal that lets fresh Gulf snapper shine.

Captain's Tip

“September always signals the beginning of one of my favorite fishing seasons. While Gulf water temperatures are still running around 88 degrees, the fishing continues improving as we move toward fall. Early morning trips remain the most comfortable, and as the water gradually cools over the next several weeks, expect even more offshore opportunities to develop. If you've been thinking about planning a fall fishing trip, now is a great time to get on the calendar.”

Whether you're interested in an Inshore Fishing Charter, Offshore Fishing Charter, Family Fishing Charter, or you'd rather let me choose the best option with a Captain's Choice Charter, I'll help put you on the fish based on current conditions and what you'd like to catch.

I look forward to seeing you on the water.
